After a month-ish of hiding (not really), Im back on the forums!  And there was cheering.

Anyway.  Ive kept up this project abit.  Ive been playing guitar and writing music ALOT lately, Ill try and post some vids of live stuff soon.  Back on track (again).  I have a demo game ready, its a fairly simple game.  Bat things fly down, and you eat them.  With some awesome japanese music in the background.  I want to find out if I can post it and submit it to the game contest.

Question.  If we submit a game does it require to be closed source?

Have you ever thought of just commercially advertising? Just around where we live put up fliers. Depends where each of us live though cause we want this to spread don't we?
Another option would to put the site on wikipedia maybe enough people will search coding?
I don't want the people near me on this site personally. I get annoyed enough from them as it is.
Asocial?  Lol.

I think Wikipedia is a good idea.

C++ / Re: screen colors

I think (im not for sure) that you can use anything from 0 (number zero) to FF.  That ranges 0, 1, 2, 3 ... a, b, c... g, f... A, B... F... AA... FF.

C++ / Re: [15] Recursion
« on: January 18, 2009, 10:08:58 pm »
So, could this be used to match a number in a parameter?  like so:
Code: [Select]
void CreateMonster(int num){
    //Do stuff.
    if(monsterCount <= num){
        CreateMonster();
    }
}

Code: [Select]
void CreateMonster(int num){
    //Do stuff.
    int num = 5;
    if(monsterCount <= num){
        CreateMonster(num-1);
    }
}
Something like that.

But then num is 5 no matter what is called...

C++ / Re: [16] Ternary Operators
« on: January 18, 2009, 09:59:23 pm »
This is C++ not Assembly or what ever language you just posted.

If this is C++ I'll be amazed and do back-flips. So i highly doubt it is.
You are correct, what I posted was Assembly, but what I posted was the Disassembly of the running application. C++ converts your code to Assembly which allows you to disassemble during run time (or not during run time using a disassembler) using a debugger. I just wanted to show that there is indeed an increase in efficiency if you use ternary operators - as you did ask if they are "as powerful" as an if statement.
Can you write something up about disassembling?  Please.

A thing ontop of the mainly males on the site.  Most programmers are males because we think linearly, as aposed to that multitasking thing that women do.

Yah, I think thats me.

Newb programmers FTW.
The middle child?
Just joking with you.
Maybe a cousin or something? A newborn?
Lol, Id say more newborn to toddler.  Would I be that strange age differenced younger brother?

Don't fall in love with each other. In terms of the board and status. I would be the father, Adamsna would be the Grand Father, and Isaro would be my brother... I hope...
Thanks, now I feel old :(.

The break will save you like... 1/1000 a second or so of time. But really, you dont need both.
And it will make it so you dont finish the loop, it just exits straight out.

its nice to be back here in your tutorial Ion, but still I'm sad cause I dont have enough more time to learn from your tutorials for the time being. cause i'm in pinch right now with my vb.net subject. its just that our teacher gave us a project that will occupy most of my time, a project that we will have to defend to her and to the other faculty staff, hehehe.... but as soon as I got myself some free time, even a little just like today. I'll take it and i'll try to study here. regards to you and to all the guys(celestialcoding family) and God Bless...
So, are we all brothers and sisters?  Or cousins?

You seem like the kind of person to write a computer book.  Lol.  I will post my TI-BASIC book that I wrote for a few friends.  Its pretty cool what you can do with a calculator.  I cant wait for the next books announcement.

-Try and make a simple 2d Drag and Drop Maker. The allows you to draw something and drag it to an area and put it there. It should have a small library of swords and accesories.
I think that is possible, but I dont see any implementation for it right now.  The code is still very basic...

-Make sure it will have some way to make it an Exe file.
I agree with those guys.  It would be so hard to make separate Exe's...  And this is just an engine, not a tool like Game Maker.

-It would be nice if it had like a window that showed you what your program looks like as soon as you start it. So since your coding all you see is code. But if you had that you could look at your process.
That is a really cool idea, but it is usually as simple as hitting f5 or f9.

-Try to make it so you can change the Icons and general data like  -  version , type , discription ETC.
[/quote]
Thats a very good idea.  I will use this one fairly soon.

-try to include like 5 tutorials so people can get a firm idea of how to code with your engine!
I will be making about 5 to 10 tutorials upon release.  Because its gear towards beginners, It should have all the resources possible.

Thanks for all the ideas!

If youve heard of Falco (Gyrovorbis on youTube) he talks about them like friends with privileges lol.  Like, you can touch her junk, and she can touch yours lol.  Im going to post some of Falcos "Adventures In Game Development" movies so you guys know their unlimited power lol.

C++ / [Solved]undefined reference to `_WinMain@16'
« on: January 16, 2009, 10:06:47 pm »
Im getting this error.  Its for my engine... You dont want the source...  But you may know a possible cause, thanks.

Error:
Quote
C:\Program Files\CodeBlocks\MinGW\bin\..\lib\gcc\mingw32\3.4.5\..\..\..\libmingw32.a(main.o):main.c:(.text+0x104)||undefined reference to `_WinMain@16'|

-EDIT-
Ok, solved it by myself again.  The linking was in the wrong order.  Somehow it switched to -lSDLmain -lSDL... -lmingw32.  But -lmingw32 needs to be in the front.  So, -lmingw32 -lSDLmain -lSDL...
